On Sunday, July 25, we begin a brand new sermon series entitled, “The Cloud: Accessing the Almighty.” The title is borrowed from the hottest thing in computer technology: the cloud. No longer is computing dependent on the software, data, and processing power you have on your personal computer. The web-based trend is simply to access what you need out there in the cloud. Whether it’s word processing, playing music, or much more complex business applications, all you need is an internet connection (and a subscription, perhaps) and you have incredible computing power at your fingertips!

As believers in Christ, we have infinitely greater power available to us “in the cloud,” so to speak. All we need is an ongoing connection. The better the connection we have to God, the better we hear Him and receive direction from Him. When we stay connected to God, we have more of His power available to us to fulfill the mission He’s called us to, at work, at home, at church, or wherever we are. When we are secure in our connection with God, we can boldly confront our fears and the challenges that would otherwise overwhelm us.

God has provided a number of ways for us to strengthen our relationship with Him. Over the centuries, great men and women of faith have benefited from spiritual disciplines such as prayer, fasting, Bible study, and more. John Wesley referred to such activities as “means of grace.” When we approach spiritual disciplines relationally, instead of religiously or legalistically, God can use them to make His grace abound to us. His incredible grace and mercy available to us in every time of need; we just need to tap into “the cloud.”

During our sermon series, you will be encouraged to grow in your personal relationship with God. You will be given some handles on spiritual disciplines so that you will not be overwhelmed by spiritual “to-do” lists and guilt trips. We all desire to know God better. Expect God to take you beyond your desire for a stronger connection to Him to the delight of an ongoing personal relationship with Him. Be sure to invite others to this life-changing sermon series.
